My girlfriend loves GTA but she doesn’t go on murder sprees, evade cops, doesn’t do missions or even drive around recklessly. She goes shopping and buys new outfits for the character, follows the rules of the road, plays tennis. It totally defeats the purpose of the game. -
2.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. I left a group of girls on my computer for this game 4 hours and a load of yelling later they beat over half the game. -
3.
Stardew Valley, showed her last week and haven’t gotten my computer back yet. -
4.
Mario kart bro. -
5.
Battleblock Theater. I bought it after seeing it recommended and my girlfriend and I tried it out. Ended up playing it for like 4 hours straight. -
6.
The Lego games are usually good. Nothing too intense and there are enough games that there’ll probably be one for a franchise she likes. -
7.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Or as my girlfriend calls it “the pew pew spaceship game”. She loves it. Also Diablo 3. We have a blast playing that, too. -
8.
Overcooked :) -

Non-gamer girlfriend here, Civilization is the only game my partner has been able to successfully get me to enjoy. It probably depends on her interests, so learn those by participating in some non-video game activities with her. -
10.
The thing is she has to learn where the buttons on a controller are without looking, which I think is the hardest for people who never played video games. -

I was once the non-gamer girlfriend, and Skyrim changed everything for me. I’d say anything that breaks away from the typical shooter that isn’t too difficult is a good idea. Portal/Portal 2, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect were some early games I was introduced to that I fell in love with. Pretty much the same route I’m currently taking with my non-gamer boyfriend. -

Strip Rocket League. -

My best advice would be that that the way you interact during matters a lot more than the game itself. Don’t expect her to want to min/max her itemization on day 1. Just chill and accept that the playstyle will not be identical to your own. -
14.
Got my wife into Minecraft. Good times. -
15.
Civ 6 or the Sims, the only two games I managed to get her to play for more than 10 minutes without hating them. -
16.
Little Big Planet. Relatively easy. You get to play dress up and collect things. If she gets stuck somewhere you can just go ahead till you get to the next checkpoint. -

My non-gamer girlfriend (now wife) enjoyed Don’t Starve Together and Civ V. -

My husband, then boyfriend, tried to teach me to the game by throwing Halo at me and nitpicking every choice I made. I got frustrated and quit and now I never want to try a team shooter ever again. So don’t do that. Portal 1 taught me how to aim and shoot in the first person. Skyrim expanded upon that knowledge and taught me how to to use both sticks accurately. Co-op games like some of the Tomb Raiders, Rayman, etc. are fun because I don’t have to actually be good to succeed, my co-op partner carries me. Puzzle and interactive games like The Witness and What Remains of Edith Finch are good because they’re more like a movie or experience than a game. I don’t play a lot because I get bored pretty easily, but my husband and I play a lot of games “together.” Like the first Shadow of Mordor was equivalent to watching a TV show for us. He’d put it on and play and I watched the whole thing while adding commentary. Also, maybe try to find games that have a really easy difficulty setting Fable 2 is one that I just put it on God mode from the beginning and never really tried. I’m mostly invested because of the story, and if the gameplay is too hard I will just stop. -

Valiant Hearts, The Wolf Among Us, Child of light, Life is strange, Until Dawn. My girlfriend hadn’t touched a controller until playing these. I ended up having to buy her her own system not too long ago. -

Some recommendations: Any MMO. World of Warcraft, DC Universe Online, Lord of the Rings Online, and Toontown were the ones I got my mother hooked on in the past. You don’t have to be good at playing games, you just gotta understand numbers and want to play something as a team. Any of the Ken Girffey Jr. Baseball games on N64. On the topic of sports, Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort. Super Mario Galaxy. You play, she just aims the pointer around to collect star bits. Also, the perfect little brother game, because they can’t ruin your game but they can totally play along. Mario Party, easy breakup if you need to leave her. -

Borderlands 2 is one of the first videogames my husband got me into (plus it’s multiplayer so that’s a plus), also, the walking dead video games are more like a TV show so that might be a good segue. -
22.
Life is Strange. It’s almost an interactive story. And a very good one at that. -
23.
Journey is an amazing game that I first played with my nerd friends, then my parents. -
24.
Doki Doki Literature Club. -

Her Story. A game where you are watching old video recordings of a woman’s testimony and trying to solve a murder. Very fun. My wife was completely addicted to it.
